Autumn Colonial Market Fair (McLean, VA)

  • Claude Moore Colonial Farm 6310 Georgetown Pike McLean, VA, 22101 United States (map)

Held on the third full weekends of May, July, and October, the 18th Century Colonial Market Fair is a favorite among regular and first-time visitors alike. Visitors come from across the country and around the globe to sample the foods and merchandise of the Market Fair. Hours: 11:00am to 4:30pm

In the fall, warm yourself by the fires and enjoy the splendor of autumn with crisp local apples, warm savory meat pies and hearty breads. Let Market Fair entertainers, tradesmen, and the militia amuse and educate you.  Allow Mistress Barrow and Mr. John to entice you with their wares at the Dry Goods and the Gentlemen’s Goods stands. Learn to dip candles or turn a piece of wood on the carpenter’s lathe. Stop by the tavern for a cup of mulled wine before you begin your holiday shopping at the many tradesmen’s and merchants’ stalls.

Silhouettes By Hand presents visitors with the opportunity to sit for their own silhouette, much in the manner as people would have sat in the Colonial era 1770s America. Taking just a few moments, within minutes, only scissors have unveiled an astounding likeness made just from paper - without throwing any shadows or drawing in advance.
