Summer Colonial Market Fair (McLean, VA)

  • Claude Moore Colonial Farm 6310 Georgetown Pike McLean, VA, 22101 United States (map)

Held on the third full weekends of May, July, and October, the 18th Century Colonial Market Fair is a favorite among regular and first-time visitors alike. Visitors come from across the country and around the globe to sample the foods and merchandise of the Market Fair. Hours: 11:00am to 4:30pm

In the summer, sit in the shade and savor roast chicken and spicy sausages, enjoy dancing and singing with the fiddler, test your water color and writing skills with Mr. Andrews at the Stationer. Muster with the militia and re-outfit your home in furniture from the Cabinet Maker. Only at Market Fair can you catch up on the latest news from the frontier and trade stories while enjoying local ale and porter at the Tavern. Try hands-on crafts such as spinning and dyeing, and shop for goods from the finest merchants in the Colonies.

Silhouettes By Hand presents visitors with the opportunity to sit for their own silhouette, much in the manner as people would have sat in the Colonial era 1770s America. Taking just a few moments, within minutes, only scissors have unveiled an astounding likeness made just from paper - without throwing any shadows or drawing in advance.
