Holidays at Hampton NHS (Towson, MD)

Come be a part of our annual celebration "Holidays at Hampton" and explore the holiday traditions of Hampton from 1790 to the modern era.

The weekend’s events span Saturday and Sunday, Dec 14 and 15. The link for the full schedule and event information, parking, and accessibility is here.

Lauren will be cutting silhouettes in the Lower House of the Hampton Mansion grounds. Timed tickets will be given out on a first-come, first served basis starting at 1pm. 1 silhouette per person with a timed ticket. Only those people with a timed ticket will be able to sit for a silhouette. All are invited to watch silhouettes being cut - freehand; without drawing, tracing, or using any shadows.

Sunday Dec 15 schedule only:
Mansion
10 am, 10:30 am & 11 am: Guided mansion tours. Join National Park Service volunteers as they guide you through seven generations of life at Hampton.
1 pm - 4 pm: Open House.Travel through decades of holiday traditions and learn more about the origans of many holiday customs.
1 pm - 3 pm: Holiday Songs on the Harp.Lori Peters will perform holidays favorites on the harp in the mansion's Great Hall.

Orangery
12 pm - 1:30 pm:
Stop by the Orangery for some extra holiday cheer and meet Santa Claus.
2 pm - 3 pm: Civil War-Era Dancing. The Victorian Dance Ensemble will perform dances from the 19th century and invite visitors to join in.

Lower House
12 pm - 4 pm: 19th Century Arts and Crafts. Create your own popcorn and cranberry garland, Victorian-style holiday cards, and corn husk dolls.
1 pm - 4 pm: 19th Century Silhouettes. Lauren Muney will create custom, handmade silhouettes for you to take home.
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm:"Christmas in the Big House, Christmas in the Quarters." Learn more about the experiences of the enslaved at Hampton during a guided tour of the Lower Farm.

Visitor Contact Station
9 am - 4 pm:
Stop by the Visitor Contact Station for information, a gift shop, and restrooms.
10am - 4 pm:Free hot cider and cookies will be available, courtesy of Historic Hampton, Inc.
