Event website: Lost Trades Fair

“Finding what was lost - and sharing a passion for hand skills, fine craftmanship and the pursuit of excellence

With its home in the historic gold rush region of central Victoria the Lost Trades Fair in Bendigo is unique, captivating and one of the most inspiring and authentic events in the country  For ten years Lost Trades has celebrated Australian craftsmanship, skilled manual work, ancient arts, heritage crafts, rare trades and the knowledge passed down through generations. Tools, traditions, techniques and trades secrets are shared and on show. Artisans from across Australia and overseas will travel to Bendigo to share what they do over this weekend of creativity.

People are fascinated when true artisans and talented craftspeople openly demonstrate skills and share their knowledge of their trade and crafts. There is something to see for all ages. More than 150 master artisans from across Australia and overseas will share their skills and show you how they do, what they do.

Meet the makers, watch feature demonstrations in the main stage arena, there are things to make for the ‘little tradies’, live music to entertain and great local food to enjoy. Lost Trades aims to inspire, to educate and to open the minds of the next generation to demand something made by a real person rather than a machine; to think about sustainability and the longevity of what they buy and use, to excite people to have the confidence to design, make and create something real, crafted by their own hands - and to show them what people can do with practice, passion, hard work and knowledge.”

NEW LOCATION: 2026

Less than an hour from Melbourne, or just a short drive from Woodend, Hanging Rock (Ngannelong) in the Macedon Ranges is a favourite gathering place for families and friends, with wide expanses of lawn for game-playing, free electric barbeques and picnic tables dotted around the reserve.
A day at Hanging Rock Reserve includes more than just the famous walk to the summit of Hanging Rock. Of course the summit climb is a highlight. Wide sealed paths make the walk reasonably easy for people of average fitness. Points of interest along the way are shown on the official Hanging Rock map and brochure.
